KLAUSURVORSCHLAG ELEPHANT , Vorschlag I (Scene) (2003)

I. FILM CLIP ELEPHANT (z.B. chap 7, 44:53 – 50:06 Min)

Klausurvorschlag für eine Doppelstunde (90 Min) bzw. mit Aufgabe III für eine „Trippelstunde“ (135 Min)
Der Film sollte vorher im Unterricht behandelt worden sein.
Vorschlag Vorgehensweise:

1. konventionell: Die SuS lesen zunächst das Arbeitsblatt; dann die Szene zweimal vorspielen, weitere Male im Verlauf und am Ende der Doppelstunde.
2. „luxuriös“: Einen Klassensatz MP4-Abspielgeräte mit Kopfhörer, so dass jeder Schüler den Trailer an seinem Platz nach Bedarf abspielen kann.

II ANALYSIS (VP für Sprache und Inhalt)
On the basis of your notes, write a coherent analysis of the scene . Start with a short introduction to the movie in general, then focus in on the scene: In the main part intertwine content and cinematic devices of the scene in question. In the conclusion discuss the relevance/function of this scene with respect to the whole movie.

III COMPOSITION: WRITE A SPEECH ON THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS : Choose one (!) of the following topics : (200-300 words) (VP für Sprache und Inhalt)

1. You deliver a speech against the right to bear arms in the USA! Choose if you want to speak in front of a high school audience, in front of the American President, or in front of somebody else. Refer to the notion of American self-conception. Mark your stylistic devices with footnotes; in each footnote use the appropriate technical term and explain its function in your specific context.

2. You deliver a speech in favour of the right to bear arms in GERMANY! As you want to prove that you are a smart person and as you want to be heard throughout the rest of Europe, you use the English language. Choose if you want to speak in front of a high school audience, in front of the German Chancellor, or in front of somebody else. Make references to the notion of American self-conception. Mark your stylistic devices with footnotes; in each footnote use the appropriate technical term and explain its function in your specific context.

Elephant ist ein Kinofilm des US-amerikanischen Regisseurs Gus Van Sant. Der Spielfilm nimmt Bezug auf die Bluttat vom 20. April 1999, als an der Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado der 17-jährige Dylan Klebold und der 18-jährige Eric Harris zwölf Mitschüler und einen Lehrer erschossen.
