Interviewing a person - giving feedback to an interview

Infobox

Diese Seite ist Teil einer Materialiensammlung zum Bildungsplan 2004: Grundlagen der Kompetenzorientierung. Bitte beachten Sie, dass der Bildungsplan fortgeschrieben wurde.

General aspects

yes

no

There is an introduction to the topic and the person who is interviewed.

The interview is only about what has happened (in a certain fictional text).

The interviewer wants to know how the interviewee sees the events.

The interviewee talks more than the interviewer.

The last question is either a brief summary of what has happened or a  reference to the future.

Types of questions

yes

no

The first question is an open invitation to the interviewee to talk freely about the subject.

The questions are precise,  short and simple.

There is only one question at a time.

Polite imperative sentences motivate the speaker to start talking and to carry on for a certain period of time. („ Please, tell us about the moment when you heard about ....“)

There are not many yes/no-questions which are only meant for making sure the interviewer got everything right.

There are not many rhetorical questions with the answers in themselves.

Wh-questions ask for clear answers.

There are questions demanding further information after a piece of information has been given before. (Why ...)

Making an interview – steps of writing

Step 1: Brainstorming
Step 2: Organize your material.
Step 3: Write down questions and answers.
Step 4: Read what you have written. Make improvements (spelling, choice of words, order ...). Check with the help of your feedback sheet.
Step 5: Write your text again. Leave room to make additions and add corrections later.
